I haven't posted in awhile and I haven't died....and yes, I'm still taking ballet classes.
I haven't been so brave as to go to Joel's Fierce Ballet again on Saturdays, but it's coming. I travel a lot for work the first half of the year and it takes some time to get back to my every day life and get caught up on my friends.
Since I started going to Joel Hall's Studio, there were always a lot of people taking Will's class. Will is this super talented, super amazing, damn great dancer/choreographer/instructor. He teaches Horton, Modern and Hip Hop classes. And since I've started he's been teasing me about coming to one of his classes. I admire Will's talent and creativity. I fear his work ethic. He's classes are pretty much sink or swim. I've seen the sinkers....and it ain't pretty. When his classes are over, everyone looks like they stood in an automated carwash.....for HOURS!
But for those of you that know my motto - it still applies - I will only suck at ONE thing at a time. And don't get me wrong, I suck at several things at a time.....about 20 times a day. What I mean is, I will only suck at ONE thing at a time that I'm TRYING to NOT SUCK at. Go ahead....I'll wait. I know you are having a light bulb moment :)
So this past Thursday in the morning, I'm talking to Ms. GB on the phone and I'm telling her that I'm going to take Modern today before Ballet Fundamentals. She wants to read my post that I'm going to write in the evening. I'm getting all nervous and gittery because I'm going to try something NEW again.
Then I unexpectedly was asked to save a life....ok...that's a little dramatic. I donated blood volunteerly because I said I would if they had a cancellation.....call it whatever you like...someone is going to get some grade A belly dancer, bad ass, blood :) And after they ply you with cookies, candy, water and feel good vibes, they remind you - NO strenous activity.
Now, I've said before I'm a believer in signs....you know...... STOP, Yield to Pedestrians, Slow (I feel some people should come with these signs too), Pay the Meter....so I knew I couldn't go to Will's class unless I planned to pass the eff out. But then I also remembered that I also have a history of hurting myself before a big performance in a dance class. So here's a big fat thank you to the universe for stopping me for being stupid.
However, I did go to Ballet Fundamentals.....and while I would not consider that strenous...I did feel faint after jumping and turning.
Yes, I need a sign that says...Highly intelligent with Stupid tendencies!
I am still going to go to Will's class...and MDB agreed to go with me :)
Oh yeah...it's ON.
